It’s hard to hold that when Casablanca was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios in 1942 it was “unprejudiced another” of the 50 or so films that the studio was producing every year, as Lauren Bacall points out in the documentary about the film included in the special features. The movie was an instant success with audiences everywhere, and won three Academy Awards including Best Recount. Called “America’s most common and beloved movie- and rightly so” by The Motion Relate Guide, and “The best Hollywood movie of all time” by Leonard Maltin, Casablanca was voted the #2 film in a list of the top 100 films of this century by the American Film Institute.

Plot in refugee strewn French North Africa in 1942, Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), a night club owner, and his friend Captain Louis Renault (Claude Rains), Prefect of Police, enter into a wager as to whether or not Resistance Leader Victor Laslo (Paul Henreid) will be able to elope Casablanca and approach the Free World. When Laslo arrives in Casablanca, Rick is horrified to fetch him accompanied by his ex-lover, Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman) . Filled with mystery, suspense, intrigue and romance, Casablanca will remain a popular of classic movie lovers for years to arrive.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Casablanca! Click Here

The supporting cast include Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre and Dooley Wilson as Rick’s piano playing confidant, Sam. The entire cast are righteous, the settings are capable, and the cinematogrophy is amazing.

The song “As Time Goes By” was made renowned by Casablanca, as it’s melody is entwined throughout the film, and it too is now a classic, filled with romance and nostalgia.

This is one film that absolutely MUST be in your DVD library!

I agree that any review of an HD DVD disk should include an thought as to its technical quality, if possible comparing it to the regular DVD release. For the Casablanca HD DVD, I found the following concept in the online magazine Perfect Vision, a high waste technologically oriented magazine: “Casablanca is the film to behold as the black-and-white showcase of hi-def. The setting of Morocco and Rick’s Café Americain jump from the shroud in breathtaking crystal clarity.”
Wholesale Designer Handbags
Electronic Cigarettes
Lumosity
Wedding Album Design
Raise Your Credit Score

Fortunately nothing distinguished changes in the third season of “Procure Luminous,” with Don Adams as the not-so-bright seek with an endless arsenal of peculiar devices and outlandish sayings, who tirelessly works to withhold the free world free. It’s a aloof, polished journey through a string of eccentric crises, with lots of slapstick, movie homages, and the occasional game of lethal ping-pong.

It starts off with a bang when everyone at Control is at risk when KAOS’s League of Imposters manages to infiltrate their organization — meaning that there are doppelgangers of everyone, including Max himself (”Looks like he’s got a terrible case of tight underwear”) . Now he has to present his legal identity… honest in time to be send to Central America to come by a captured president. And pose as a flamenco dancer.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Get Smart: Season 3! Click Here

And the stalwart Incandescent is confronted by many fresh dangers — a ghostly informant, budget cutbacks, a sonic roar weapon, an olive transmitter swallowed by a country singer, a superpowered robot designed to destroy Hymie, the malevolent Dr. Yes, infiltrating a biker gang, poisoning by a KAOS siren, the mysterious Dr. T, being framed by a one-handed man, the loss of an incriminating Petite Dim Book, a deadly amusement park, kamikaze pigeons, a sabotaged track competition, and the nefarious third perceive network ACB.

“Acquire Shining Season Three” has everything you’d want in a view spoof — lots of homages to movies (”The Maltese Falcon,” “DOA,” “Dr No”) and television (”The Avengers,” “The Fugitive”), absurd plots against world peace (KAOS hippies compelling people to kill through terrible folk-rock!), and extremely wonderful methods of stopping them. The best thing about the third season is simply that it doesn’t change a thing about itself.

Basically the third season is about on even keel with the one that precedes it — lots of slapsticky action (including Max trying to sheath a sword), strange problems and bizarre gadgets. And it’s cleverly written as well (”The world is going to be destroyed in another 45 minutes, you schtupid! This is no time to terminate for traffic lights!”), especially with some fun pokes at US government (”We’re the only secret organization in the world that nobody ever heard of”) .

Don Adams is the heart of the series, with his quirky face, nasal tell, peculiar body language and confident catchphrases (”And loving it!”) — he gets to do some fun stuff in Season Three, such as impersonate a king (”Ah yes… I remember the well”), play Pygmalian to a mousy children’s author, as well as briefly getting to be Chief of Control. He also turns out to be the worst roommate in the history of the world.

Barbara Feldon plays a improbable straight woman to Max’s goofiness, but we do come by to peep how she feels about Max when she chooses to leave CONTROL and marry someone else. Edward Platt shines as the long-suffering Chief, who has to deal with Max’s constant idiocy. And Bernie Kopell and King Fretful are gleaming as Max’s archnemesis and his monotonous sidekick, especially when they have to team up with Max to assign the world (”I may be a killer but I am not a peeping Tom!”) .

The third season of “Gather Knowing” stays radiant by not really changing anything, but continuing with the whacked-out plots against world peace, and the dusky peruse who is our only hope. I asked you not to verbalize me that!

Its called comical. More laughter than you can handle and

a pleasant laugh is well-behaved for the soul. Unprejudiced contemplate how great

you will feel when you earn yourself laughing until it hurts.

That is what Collect Shiny is all about, laughs. Spacious DVD and fine

sound. Pick Up it, have some worthy laughs and feel better. It sure

beats watching the news, 24/7/365.
Small Business Phone Systems
Designer Handbags At Wholesale
Virtual Phone Numbers
Electronic Cigarettes Starter Kit
Increase Your Credit Score

Well, folks, it was 1954. Not many of you were there, but speaking as someone who was 10 years worn when he first saw this film, it was the “thing that dreams were made of.” You have to inspect at films from the early fifties without reference to what you come by today. Noble special effects meant that he studio fans actually blew all of the costumes in the same directions. The studio system was about to die. Movies paid the bills with star’s faces. A 10 year stale went to stare the record, and this is a mountainous epic. You can peer this movie. It isn’t history, or fantasy. It is honest a lot of fun from a time when you could area through it a second time for free if you called you mom and asked her not to approach net you for two more hours. Keep this in your collection and you can see it once a year and appreciate it. And if you really want historical accuracy, this film is it. It is impartial exactly what films were all about in 1954 before TV came along and shrunk everything into one syllable.

Three cheers to fellow reviewers who identified problems discerning adults will have with this film: the miscasting, the monotonous acting of Robert Taylor, the AWOL acting of Mel Ferrer, the abominable accents, the lost dwelling threads (what about that Holy Grail? ) .

But for watching with a slight boy, plastic sword in hand, this is ample stuff. It’s worthy where it needs to be good: the action, particularly the battle scenes; the scenery; the costumes and weaponry. Moreover, the talk of honor is done seriously, and the Christian piety expressed is a very helpful thing (and a rare thing, too, in films these days) . One can talk around the business of adultery and talk about trust and promises and fancy on the one hand, and gossip and intrigue on the other. Overall, a enjoyable film for the young; my six year extinct son and I will be seeing this a few times.
Not to be confused with “The Staunch Ghostbusters,” the interesting series based on the 1984 hit film, Filmation’s “Ghostbusters” was actually based on the 1975 live action Saturday morning series “The Ghost Busters” starring Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch [of "F Troop" fame] as ghost busters Jake Kong and Eddie Spenser respectively. Along with Tracy, their gorilla played by Bob Burns, Jake and Eddie fought the ghosts of historical villains. Both versions of the note were produced by Filmation.

Filmation’s 1986 sharp Ghostbusters series featured Jake Kong Jr. and Eddie Spenser Jr., the sons of Jake and Eddie assisted by Tracy the gorilla, Jessica the reporter, Belfry the bat, and Futura the sorceress. From their Ghost Negate headquarters, they battled ghosts and phantoms from fairy tales, present-day and future. Whether traveling through time and status in their transforming Ghost Buggy, or battling the corrupt spooks of Prime Outrageous at his Haunt-Quarters, the Ghostbusters would always reply the call to action with their battlecry “Let’s Go Ghostbusters!” The battlecry powerful like He-Man’s transformation scene, albeit to a lesser extent, was that scene in the expose I always looked forward to, and never got tired of.

I almost didn’t bother to notice Filmation’s Ghostbusters support in first-run because [at the time] I felt it was trying to take The Steady Ghostbusters’ thunder–which it was, sort of. It’s all relative however as neither inviting series would’ve been produced if it weren’t for the success of 1984’s “Ghostbusters” film. Columbia Pictures (who owned the film and spin-off cartoon) settled a lawsuit with Filmation for an undisclosed sum in order to spend the title in the film, but that didn’t preclude Filmation’s possess racy attempt to capitalize on poltergeist popularity. With all of that in mind, I did sight both shows in first-run and had found there to be plenty of ghostbusting fun to be had from both shows.

Ghostbusters – Volume One:

Feb. 27th!

One of Saturday morning’s mainstays during the 70’s was Filmation Studios’ THE GHOST BUSTERS, a live-action explain starring Forrest Tucker and Larry Storch (of F TROOP fame) as Jake Kong and Eddie Spencer, paranormal investigators teamed with “Tracy,” a supersmart gorilla (Bob Burns in a suit) who hunt down and dematerialize ghosts. Combining a minute budget, Tucker and Storch’s vaudevillian shtick and some rather imaginative storytelling, THE GHOST BUSTERS became one of the most oft-remembered shows of the ’70’s Saturday Morning experience.

One decade later, at the height of Akyroyd and Company’s GHOSTBUSTERS craze and coming off the success of HE-MAN and SHE-RA, Filmation revived the notion into FILMATION’S GHOSTBUSTERS, a syndicated keen series now reintroduced on this DVD station, which gives us the first half of FGB’s 65-episode hurry. Showcasing shimmering, much-improved animation and an even more imaginative turn at comedic storytelling that brought in elements of science fiction and time disappear, FILMATION’S GHOSTBUSTERS continues the legacy of Spencer, Tracy and Kong with their sons, Eddie Jr. and Jake Jr., taking over the family business with Tracy. Armed with more ghost weapons besides their updated and customary Ghost-Dematerializer, a number of revolving allies (such as doughty reporter Jessica Wray and flirtatious future sorceress Futura) and the cantankerous transforming Ghost Buggy, Jake, Eddie and Tracy go into battle with the bad-tempered Prime Horrible, a robotic, Darth-Vaderesque ghost who runs the spook-filled HauntQuarters in an alternate dimension. The gang’s continuous mission is to close the various schemes of Prime Nefarious and his gang of ne’er-do-well ghosts, who read like lost children of WACKY RACES (among them the neurotic-robotic skeleton ScaredStiff, bullying future werewolf Fangster, the Terry-Thomas-like Haunter, moronic jokester mummy Airhead, who literally lives up to his name, and the egotistical self-obsessed sorceress Mysteria) . The ghost gang are often the major cause of Prime Evil’s defeats; all are slothful, extremely self-promoting and somewhat incompetent at teamwork.

Occasionally, some of the jokes wear thin: Eddie’s constant bungling, Ghost Buggy’s continuous criticism of the Busters, and Prime Evil’s inability to say “Ghostbusters” without wincing are all pleasing worthy one-note jokes. Despite this, the series shines as one of Filmation’s finest efforts, and the transfers on this DVD region are good, with scripts, commentaries on episodes and recent artwork all featured. Also on this spot is “The Maltese Monkey,” the first episode of the live-action GHOST BUSTERS series, soon to follow on its enjoy DVD dwelling release. Volume II of the bright series will be out soon as well.

If you like advantageous storytelling and would luxuriate in seeing another remove on the understanding of “ghost busters,” this spot would be an capable catch. If you’re an animation fan and, in particular, a Filmation completist, this plot is a must-have.
Electric Cigarette
Virtual Phone Number
Electric Cigarette
Buy Electric Cigarette
Wholesale Designer Handbags

Amazing. Unbiased a few days ago I was thinking about a film that I saw in elementary school (Fairfield Elementary School, Long Island, NY) . It was about a cramped boy and a red balloon that escaped his select. I was trying to remember if the film had spoken words, and I understanding that it did not. I was thinking about how it was such an current film, and how current it was that I should remember it almost 30 years later. I made a mental sign to some day acquire it.

Tonight, I sat here browsing Amazon, and I honest fell upon it. The Red Balloon. I must have it. Comic, I can’t remember if it made me laugh or bawl. I objective know that it is a memorable allotment of my childhood, and if I have an opportunity to recapture some dinky memory of a more simple time in my life, then I must remove that opportunity.

To all the other “kids” out there who remember this film… I’ll gawk you on the playground.

This film is an absolute work of art! It tells the attractive sage of a young boy and his only friend: a vast red balloon. Their friendship is fair and the living balloon follows the dinky boy wherever he goes. They play with each other, trust each other… they are together for apt!

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Red Balloon! Click Here

A very simple and comely narrative… one that makes you remember how profitable it is to be a kid. …all the possibilities… all the imagination and the innocence we lose when we grow up. This film will touch everyone who sees it.

The only quandary is the print they worn for this DVD. Absolutely tainted! Stout of scratches and marks… (there are quiet films in better shape!) it seems someone dragged the film stock on a street to earn it search for dreadful. I cannot bear such an considerable film had such a lack of caring. The soundtrack is also terrible and the rich Technicolor is gone. I was lucky enough to perceive this film on the stout mask during the seventies and… enjoy me… it was glorious. Nothing like this.

I knew this print was poor because I read the other reviews, and yet, I bought it because I felt I must have it (for I like this film) . But it was smooth repugnant to seek how dreadful a poor print can be.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Red Balloon! Click Here

I judge this film is a masterpiece and I will pick it again if this is ever restored and released again… but this is an european film and I do not scrutinize that (restoration… or a modern print) coming soon. So I bought it anyway – mediate like this: not even in France this film is available… go figure why!

A aesthetic film that is worth every scratch… but it is a shame… Films like this one should be seen over and over and I am obvious if it was to be rereleased it would be a success. Perhaps one day someone like Criterion (who for once released it in Laserdisc a looong time ago) will occupy this film and give the treatment it deserves.

By the blueprint, the DVD comes with an american racy cartoon : “The Pincushion Man”. It is about a ballon-like city with ballon-like characters. The print is equally terrible. It is an early thirties “comical symphonies-like” color cartoon produced by Castle Films. The film is nice and it leaves you wondering about how many sizable films are there left to rot. …
Small Business Phone System
Electronic Cigarettes
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Smokeless Cigarettes

My wife and I took a chance on this and rented it when we couldn’t gain anything else. We haven’t seen any other Apatow films — they all looked a small too adolescent for our tastes. We had read some honorable reviews of this, though, so we gave it a shot. It was a genuine surprise — very clever, well-written, and genuinely silly. Substantial cast, and all give edifying performances. Lots of proper talent went into this. A very scrumptious movie.

“Forgetting Sarah Marshall” is another smashing success brought to you by Judd Apatow and friends. This time it is Jason Segel’s turn to shine and he certainly does not dissapoint with a script that is both laugh out loud amusing and emotionally just.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Forgetting Sarah Marshall! Click Here

While one has arrive to interrogate Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, and even Segel himself to be on point because of their past turns in other Apatow produced comedies, it is the newcomers that really heed.

Like Christpher Mint-Plaisse as Fogel in “Superbad” it is the ability to rep recent and recent comedic voices that have largely contributed to the success of past Apatow movies like “Superbad”, “Knocked up”, and even “40 year former virgin”.

“Sarah Marshall” introduces the british Comedian Russell Designate to American audiences as Aldous Snow the ultra-ridiculous british rockstar/new boyfriend of Sarah Marshall. Mark has dynamite amusing timing and is certainly willing to do anything for a laugh. His interactions with Jonah Hill whose character is obsessed with him are both creepy and laugh out loud comical.

the other precise suprise is Mila Kunis. While I enjoyed her as jackie on “That 70’s Point To”, her work here is truly relevatory. While she is essentially playing the requiste “dream girl” she is able to give the fraction some trusty depth while giving the movie a staunch warmth.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Forgetting Sarah Marshall! Click Here

The other standout for me was Bill Hader who is funnier everytime I inspect him. Most will probably look him from his work in Superbad as Seth Rogen’s partner and in this he plays segel’s step-brother who is not unnerved to protest Peter exactly how it is.

I also feel I need to mention Kristen Bell who plays Sarah Marshall. While the role is rather thankless she is quite humorous and gives the character dependable bite. She also nails perhaps the most objective scene I have ever seen in a romantic comedy when she finally tells Peter why it didnt work between them. Both actors shine in the scene, but her work is both just and heartbreaking and gives her character a depth that I certainly was not expecting.

I unprejudiced saw a special engagement of this latest 70th Anniversary version of Pinnochio at Disney’s El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood in near of the DVD re-release. Though I am ecstatic to peruse the movie be given public exposure on a mountainous theatrical cover, over the years I have seen many theatrical screenings of the movie on at least 12 different occasions including an fresh nitrate 3-strip Technicolor studio vault print in the early 1980’s (before the studio dismantled its last nitrate screening room) and non-digital film restorations and was tremulous to peek that this latest restored version has digitally tampered with the film’s modern color palette for no justifiable reason.

Some of the chosen character hues are novel day, favorite color hues, but peek out of location in this early interesting classic including distinct pinks, reds and blues which are reused so often in identical shades that to classic animation buffs it becomes distractingly noticeable. For those animation buffs who know about Pinnochio, Walt intentionally muted colors in some of the scarier or sadder scenes. In the restored version, for example, when Pinnochio gets locked in Geppetto’s “birdcage” the nighttime scene is brilliant and garish where it should intentionally be darker and muted.

The fresh movie had hand inked character outlines in colors that matched the interior ink colors, none of that is apparent in this restoration. The characters, though admittedly sharper and clearer, peek color-wise like they were electronically tampered with, then reinserted in front of the modern backgrounds.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Pinocchio! Click Here

At this point, the wound is done and obviously this restoration was “stylistic.” But in any case, it might be compared with someone redoing the Mona Lisa with more original color hues for the purpose of improving the artwork or making it more recent day acceptable. Either two things, perhaps no one at Disney was knowledgeable enough to scrutinize what the outside restoration company was planning to do with the film in early test segments or maybe they figured that unusual day DVD audiences would not know the incompatibility or care, but this is the first “DIGITALLY RESTORED” classic Disney film that I have ever taken inform with. What a let down since it is my very approved Disney film of all!!!

P.S. I was the founder of the outmoded, long time Disney employees’ Enchanting Film Club (later referred to as the Disney Film Club) which included Disneyland and Walt Disney Studio employees. It was founded in 1976 and continued on and off for many years afterward with visits from surviving novel Disney animators, screenings of rare Disney footage and more.

The one-two whammy of audience and principal indifference to “Pinocchio” and “Fantasia” killed Walt Disney’s desire to experiment with the limits of animation in the 1940s. From then on, play it capable was his motto. This may be one of the greatest tragedies to beset favorite American culture in the 20th century; despite the depths of pretension and kitch in “Fantasia,” it was at least evidence of a enthralling mind in pursuit of the unattained — but “Pinocchio” must have broken stale Walt’s heart. There are visual effects in this movie that remained unchallenged until the digital age, and it’s worth recalling that every single one of them was drawn by hand. It has one of the most aesthetic and enchanting musical scores in the history of the movies (I can’t hear Cliff Edwards’ high, pure falsetto holding that final tag of “When You Wish Upon a Star” without chills), a deeply plangent sense of emotion that never tips over into bathos, and a wealth of detail that is mild staggering after 65 years. But it may be too shadowy a movie to achieve the popularity of more contented Disney cartoons like “Snow White” — although even that one can frighten the tots. Now: where is the double-disc Special Platinum Edition???
Electric Cigarette Review
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Gamefly Free Trial
Wedding Album Design

From 1971,THE COWBOYS finds our guy,The Duke, as an aging rancher who must hire 11 young boys to assist him on a 400 mile cattle drive. He’s tough and gruff, but really has a design with the kids,(only The Duke can cure a boy’s stuttering in less than 2 minutes!), and soon finds himself acting as both dash boss and father to the group. The drive is rough for all and has the added suspense of some awful hombres led by Bruce Dern who are out to rustle The Duke’s cattle.

Wayne, who by this time, unprejudiced awed us with his on mask presence, turns in a touching performance and if it was up to me, would have recieved an Oscar for this role. Dern is the baddest of the awful as he goes after our hero. The film is not short on talent, Directed by Label Rydell, it includes Roscoe Lee Brown, a young A. Martinez, and a miniature but meaty allotment for the unbelievable Colleen Dewhurst. A nice widescreen presentation, the recount and color were capable but seemed impartial a slight dated to me.The sound remastered in DD 5.1 is astounding. There’s a expansive documentary included. The Breaking of Boys and The Making Of Men, talks about how the boys were selected, and how they trained for their parts. There are 13 (count em ..13) trailers of Wayne films from the 30’s through the 70’s, informative production notes, and has languages and subtitles in English and French.

Collector’s of Wayne may net it more economical to choose the John Wayne Collection dwelling. Included with this wonderful film are two greats directed by John Ford, THE SEARCHERS, and STAGECOACH. Spanning 30 years of his career, it’s a incredible selection.

Saddle up and be pleased the high-tail…

Gay Trails…..Laurie

Oldies but Goodies with The Duke:

Shadow of the Eagle

His Private Secretary

John Wayne

I’m puzzled by the negative reviews (vide supra) . If the story’s a diminutive thin, then the acting more than makes up for it. John Wayne and Roscoe Lee Browne lead a cattle drive across the West with the serve of the only support they could pick up, schoolboys. They are trailed by some unpleasant guys. So great for the account. But Wayne and Browne give helpful performances, truly, and the boys more than absorb up their destroy. Bruce Dern’s a memorable villain who gets his. (Wayne is shot 1 hr., 50 min. into the picture–certainly not “early on”!) I rate this movie 4 stars because, obvious, “Stagecoach” and “The Searchers” and the U.S. Cavalry trio despicable higher; but 4 stars on the Wayne scale ain’t too shabby. One day the world will reach around to the realization that John Wayne was one of the greatest hide actors ever to perambulate through Hollywood.
Electric Cigarette Review
Electronic Cigarettes Reviews
Smokeless Cigarettes
Electronic Cigarettes
Electric Cigarette

Anthony Mann (originally known as Emil Anton Bundesmann) is probably known by many for his taut, stylistic westerns of the early fifties (Winchester ‘73, Bend of the River, The Naked Spur), but many also known him from his generally uncouth budget noir thrillers produced in the mid to slack 40’s for such poverty row studios as Republic and RKO. Of these films, the current among fans being T-Men (1947), but I contemplate Raw Deal (1948) holds its’ have quite well, and is well-known viewing for anyone fervent in the genre. The film stars Dennis O’Keefe (who appeared in the earlier Mann film T-Men), Claire Trevor (Born to Slay, Key Largo), Marsha Hunt (Smash-Up: The Legend of a Woman, Jigsaw), and Raymond `Perry Mason’ Burr (The Whip Hand, Bride of the Gorilla) . Also appearing is John Ireland (A Slump in the Sun, All the King’s Men) and Curt Conway, who had bit parts in films like T-Men and The Naked City.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Raw Deal! Click Here

The film basically begins with Joe (O’Keefe) busting outta the joint (that’s slang for escaping from prison, in case anyone was wondering) . Joe was sent up for a crime he didn’t commit, as he took the rap for his friend Rick (Burr) . We learn that Rick aided in Joe’s race indirectly (greasing a few palms, I suspect), but it’s not in Rick’s best interests to glimpse Joe survive the dash attempt as he owes him a sizable wad of cash and also he can build the finger on Rick. In a sense, Rick feels he’s giving Joe unbiased enough rope to hang himself with, and the police will catch care of his dirty business (with escaped convicts, it’s always shoot first, and then shoot again, at least in films like this) . Anyway, with the relieve of his girlfriend Pat (Trevor), he does race, but the police swiftly throw up a dragnet, and so Joe and Pat are forced to stare refuge in the apartment of Ann (Hunt), a just assist that worked on Joe’s case. She feels Joe should turn himself in, so they extinguish up taking Ann with them in an distress to maintain her from spilling the beans. With Ann in tow, Joe and Pat originate their scheme to San Francisco, hoping to win a boat to South America, but first Joe must pay a visit to Rick and glean the money he’s owed. Tiny does he know Rick has other plans, ones that involve Joe taking a dirt nap…

It’s graceful rare that I give out five stars, but I feel this film is deserving, as this is a case where I feel everything clicked. Mann’s direction, along with John Alton’s (T-Men, He Walked by Night) cinematography combined beautifully to accomplish a gloomy, rich chronicle that drew me in so completely. When I consider noir films, images of cityscapes, shrouded by murky night arrive to mind, but here, most of the fable takes region on the road, and in remote, forested areas. Regardless of this aspect, they aloof managed to employ the available elements to do one of the best films in the genre, aided by a tight script, thoughtful characters, and astounding performances. O’Keefe is a believable mix of criminal and hero, driven by his needs, but tortured his conscious which is drawn out by the kindly girl character of Ann (who finds herself attracted to the wonderful nature that she believes lies beneath Joe’s repellent exterior) . On the other side is the slightly extinct character of Pat, who, in any other film would have near off as a humdrum weak gun moll, but here she’s fully developed in her occupy honest (aided by her monotone epic throughout the film, taking her character well beyond what I would have expected) . She desperately loves Joe, but sees him slipping away as Ann’s influences choose their toll. And then there’s the character of Rick, the seemingly refined, yet highly sleazy, sadistic, strong-armed antagonist with a diminutive case of pyromania (check out the flaming Cherries Jubilee shower his gives his mistress after she makes the mistake of bumping into him, spilling a drink on his pretty duds) who’s set of leadership is based not on the respect of those under him (it’s rare that he does his believe dirty work), but on the fact he’s the biggest dog in the yard (especially the intention he’s filmed, at crude angles to perform his appearance seem that powerful more menacing) . Finally there’s the character of Fantail (Ireland), one of Rick’s henchman, who’s thinly veiled contempt for his boss comes through often, but apparently lacks the will or desire to wrest control from his boss. Another strength was the film’s pacing. The legend moved along well, needing only 79 minutes to completion, and not one wasted moment throughout. Perhaps this relatively short rush time was more a product of the minimal budget, but it’s immaterial as Mann gets the job done, presenting one of the finer films I’ve seen in awhile. I judge my current scene was the fistfight between Fantail and Joe in the taxidermy shop. It’s very intense, shot beautifully, and had me glued to the camouflage (if you ever obtain yourself in the station of brawling in such a set, compose positive you mind the antlers) . Was there some predictability within the memoir? Perhaps, but I was so taken in I rarely noticed, nor did I care.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Raw Deal! Click Here

I belief the print on this DVD released by VCI looked very agreeable. There’s dinky indications of wear, but the inequity appeared bright and orderly, and the audio very decent. One has to remember this wasn’t a major studio film, so this may be the best transfer we’ll peruse, unless someone pops for a full-blown restoration. Special features include a 7 minutes share called Murky Reflections Portion 2, narrated by writer Max Allen Collins (an obliging portion, by the device), and three rough looking trailers for Impact (1949), The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), and Rupture Up (1947) .

Cookieman108

Anthony Mann’s films — whether they are Noire, War Film, Western, or Costume Memoir — are all about one thing: characters doomed to self-destruction. In that light “Raw Deal” is probably his best, because here *everyone* is going down.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Raw Deal! Click Here

O’Keefe escapes from prison, crooked on collecting his dough from Crime Boss Raymond Burr, and leaving the country. But on the plot he becomes trapped between the woman who broke him out, and the attractive parole officer they kidnapped. Meanwhile the sadistic pyromaniac Burr has sent killer John Ireland to gain clear O’Keefe meets a sticky slay.

“Raw Deal” starts as an exhaust in classic film-noire style: tough-guy dialogue, gun-play, and simple low-key sets. Forunately (and unlike most directors), Mann is aware that these are honest *noire motifs*. So rather than compose a cliche by playing *to* them, Mann (and his collaborators Alton and Sawtell) produces a masterpiece by playing *against* them.

What would normally be a ancient revenge flick, becomes a complicated emotional perambulate, in the guise of an equally meandering — occaisionally surreal — road journey across post-war middle-America.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Raw Deal! Click Here

John Alton photographs it beautifully (the Greg Toland of B-Movies) : a fight in a bait-shop takes set under a grid of unlit fishing nets; a woman’s face reflected in the face of a ships’ clock (also under a come by… hmmmm) ; a forest at night; an alleyway choked with fog — all of it exquisitely illuminated (or NOT illuminated, depending on your lighting philosophy) .

And instead of the standard — Dum-Da-Dum-Dum Dragnet net, composer Paul Sawtel (the Bernard Herrman of B-Movies) gives it a quivering, supernatural flavour — with a Theramin.

The cast is perfect, particularly Ireland whose lawful ambivalence can’t cloak his distain for Burr and respect for O’Keefe. And Whit Bissel does a urge throught in one of the films more surreal moments.

As i said before, the characters in a Mann film are always trapped by their have weaknesses. This is a standard B-movie/noir scheme, usually explained to the audience by a cynical Private-I with words like lust, betrayal, kill, etc. etc. What sets “Raw Deal” apart from the ordinary Noire fodder is that we don’t fair gape, we sympathise. In “Raw Deal” the trap isn’t “greed” or “lust” — it’s loyalty, devotion, duty, and self sacrifice. Anthony Mann’s characters are doomed by their virtues, not their vices.

And they hold us with them.
Wedding Album Design
Raise My Credit Score
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
New Hostgator Coupons

This fabulous film is based upon the short sage, “Travel Well, My Brother”, which appears in an anthology of short stories titled, “The Snow Walker”, written by Canadian icon, Farley Mowat. The legend takes area somewhere approach the Artic in 1953 and opens with a dusky figure traipsing slowly across a frozen wasteland. The film then flashes benefit to a time three months earlier in a settlement called “Yellow Knife”, located somewhere in the Northwest Territories of Canada. A raucous sort of area, the viewer is introduced to a young and resplendent, customary World War II fighter pilot named Charles Halliday (Barry Pepper) . He is a free living, arrogant, hot dogging young gun, who now flies over the frozen wastelands of the far north, working as a bush pilot for a man named Shepherd (James Cromwell) .

While making a routine delivery in a desolate set, he is met by a miniature family of Inuit with a seemingly tubercular daughter (Annabella Piugattuk) ) who clearly needs medical attention. They interrogate that Johnny grasp her to the hospital in Yellow Knife but Johnny refuses to do so. When they bribe him with some principal ivory tusks, he has a change of heart, taking the young woman on board. Unfortunately, the runt aircraft experiences technical difficulties, and they wreck in the frozen tundra, a couple of hundred miles from civilization, but are physically relatively unhurt by the break.

Thinking that he would do better on his occupy, Charlie divests himself of the young woman, leaving her with some supplies but believing that he is consigning her to her death. He is a young man with puny respect for the Inuit people. He simply does not gawk the value in their culture, which he does not understand, and marches off into the bleak wilderness on his beget. He, who is a whiz with machinery, has puny knowledge on how to survive in that bleak but aesthetic wasteland. Consequently, by the time he is about a week into his jog through this unforgiving tundra, he is overcome by nature and the vicissitudes of this harsh and alien environment. Fortunately for him, the young woman he left slow is far more resourceful than he is. She catches up with him, finding him on the brink of death, and nurses him abet to life, becoming the key to his survival.

It is only after all this happens that he bothers to learn that she is called Kanaalaq. Slowly, he learns to connect with this young woman in a blueprint that he has never connected with anyone. He learns to luxuriate in her, discovering that she is lovely both inside and out. Through his relationship with Kanaalaq, whom he begins to regard as a runt sister, he learns how to fancy another human being, becoming reborn as a better person in the process. He also learns to connect to the land and, in doing so, finds the strength to survive his ordeal. Kanaalaq ends up giving Charlie Halliday the gift of life.

What happens to Charlie and Kanaalaq, how they manage, and how their relationship develops is at the heart of this film. It is the fable of two cultures that near together and seamlessly mesh in order to survive out on the frozen tundra. It is an intensely enthralling and deeply personal film that is simply stunning. With a minimum of dialogue, this film sends out a major message.

Barry Pepper is terrific in the role of Charlie Halliday, a flawed human being who manages to overcome his shortcomings and become all the better for his ordeal. He infuses the character with a definite charisma, so that when his shortcomings become apparent, the viewer does not hate him but, rather, hopes that he will peruse the error of his ways and secure redemption. Newcomer Annabella Piugattuk is simply sensational, giving a well-nuanced and very touching performance in the role of the dying Inuit girl, Kanaalaq. Her role is central to the film, and she is a breakout star. They searched for six months, until they found her, having auditioned hundreds of young women in the process, as they were looking for someone indigenous to the place to contain the female lead. The casting director discovered her at a local teen dance in the Northwest Territories, and what a derive she is.

This Canadian production was the recipient of numerous Genie nominations, which are the Canadian equivalent of Academy Award nominations, and are conferred by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. I have to say that, in unusual years, I have been mightily impressed with the originality, quality, and sophistication of Canadian films. They are sometimes simply the best films to be found. This one is no exception. Deftly directed by Charles Martin Smith, who is also an actor, he fully understands the notion that less is oftentimes more and exacts grand performances from the entire cast. Moreover, he perfectly captures the majesty, beauty, and sheer bleakness of the landscape that acts as the backdrop for this resplendent account. Bravo!

The 2003 Canadian film is one of those independent films that I call a “gem”. It’s a simple epic. Station in 1953 in northern Canada, a bush pilot, played by Barry Pepper, agrees to hover a seriously ill young Inuit woman, who seems to have tuberculosis, to a town where she can glean medical attention. He’s reluctant to do this but her family bribes him with a pair of walrus tusks. Played by first-time actress Annabella Piugattuk, this Intuit woman is outstanding in her role, as she helps the pilot to survive after their plane crashes and also teaches him some vital lessons about life.

Yes, this is a hackneyed epic with no exact surprises. But under the expert hand of writer/director Charles Martin Smith, the film comes out better than the sum of its parts. I found myself completely drawn in and also learned a lot about survival in the frozen north. I applaud the director’s decision to spend an authentic Inuit actress in the main role which made the film seem accurate. It was well-paced with impartial enough tension to support me wondering what would happen next.

This is a elegant film and I definitely recommend it. And it is especially suited to sight during a summer heat spell.
Free Virtual Phone Number
Electronic Smokeless Cigarettes
Electric Cigarette
Smokeless Cigarette
